We have all done it; searching high and low only to find it is in us to be happy. We are always paying attention to what other people have or say to validate what is happiness. We will drive ourselves crazy trying to keep up with others thinking that is the way to be happy. However, you can have all the possessions and money in the world and still be unhappy. Look at the celebrities that are in rehab or killing themselves because they are so miserable.
We are bombarded by so many things in our lives; commercials telling us what we need constantly, products that are always upgrading and we can't live without it, cars that can practically drive themselves....it goes on and on and we feel inadequate. We tend to feel like something is wrong with us if we are being told what we need, and we can't get it. We are always left chasing our tails.
Take a moment and look around you, what do you really need and really want; you will find conflict between your needs and wants, that is what will send you in a spiral of thinking you are not happy. Think about it...there is something you really want but is not practical for you right now, are you happy or sad...most would say sad. Why? That is a great question, we always want what we don't have, but when we get it we are still not happy. You may feel a sense of accomplishment, but you are not happy. You then may become remorseful because you spent money that could have been allocated somewhere else.
Isn't it amazing how if we just stay connected to who we truly are, we then will find happiness. We are sad because we are always chasing out tails; technically we don't need much to make us happy, but when we are always looking at what others have that's when we start to loath and compete with ourselves.
Start to look within who you are, give yourself what you need and stop trying to get what others have. That is when you will be truly happy and be able to live the life that you so desire.
