As I sit here pondering my thoughts for today, I am thinking about how it is November 9th and we are all getting into that crazy hustle and bustle of the holiday season and it's not even Thanksgiving yet. I noticed right before Halloween that all the decorations for Halloween were already on clearance. Now some stores have Thanksgiving stuff on clearance and Christmas stuff in full swing. I myself enjoy the holiday movies and music, but I am not quite ready for the whole Christmas thing yet.
I am finding more and more that we are always racing to get to our futures and we don't take the time to honor and enjoy our present moment. The past is behind us before we can even blink and we don't even know what is truly going on in our own lives. How can we; if we can't even take a moment to enjoy our present.
For me this year has flown by quicker than I can even imagine. So much has happened and I tried to take as much of it as possible and just be in the present moment. But what I have found is that everything is going too quickly and it is hard to appreciate everything in the present moment; too many times I have been trying to keep up. Think about that for a minute....what has been going on in your life that you have not been able to completely enjoy? I bet there are a lot of things that you have no idea where the time went.
Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away and people are already dreading it. The stores are opening at 5 and 6 pm on Thanksgiving...where is the time left to be with our families being thankful for all that we have and each other. Why is it that we can't wait until Black Friday to get the sales....why do we have to interrupt a day of thanks to go shopping? Think about that for a second....I get that it is fun and people are starting their traditions shopping...but our days are flying by so fast we don't stop to enjoy it. Here is a thought, you get up...start preparing the turkey and making your dinner....complete the finishing touches on the house for family to arrive....you are busy in the kitchen....dinner is ready...you sit down eat and before you know it you are out shopping and fighting the crowds...come home....exhausted and go to bed... I ask you, how is that fun? We have taken Thanksgiving and dismissed it for a big dinner and shopping.
Think about this blog today....how is your holiday season going to go. Let's start enjoying our present days...and really take in what our lives are truly about. God did not want us to create a rat race for our lives, He wanted us to learn about ourselves and each other and have an amazing life. Today enjoy your Sunday, if you have to work enjoy your work day; take in every breath and every moment of your day. Cherish all that happens today good or bad and just notice what a wonderful life you have.
Until we meet again....
With all my love...Rita
